Our Mission
The Rossmoor Scholarship Foundation is a volunteer organization of Rossmoor
residents whose goal is to provide scholarships to deserving graduates from specified
local high schools and community colleges to aid them in continuing their education at
an accredited community college, college, university or vocational training school of
their choice.

Our Authority
The Foundation is a charitable public organization incorporated in the state of California and governed by the U.S. Tax Code 26 USCA 501(C)(3) which permits it to receive tax-deductible contributions and avoid paying property or sales taxes. Trustees are required to exercise appropriate fiduciary responsibility and to avoid conflict between personal interests and the duties they owe the Foundation,

Our Funding
Funding for scholarships is obtained principally through donations solicited from Rossmoor residents and from the Foundation investment account managed by Fidelity Investments. Funds are also available from bequests and from community organizations and local businesses.

The Scholarship Process
Students apply for scholarships through the counselors at their schools. Application packets contain information regarding scholarship, financial need, extra-curricular activities, community volunteer service and/or work experience, and letters of recommendation. Students are also required to submit a personal essay. Trustees are assigned to a school interview team to evaluate each student's application packet from the respective school. The school interview team will then interview each applicant either in-person or via the Internet. The culmination of the evaluation process is the awarding of multiple scholarships, and recognition of the awardees at an Award Ceremony held in Rossmoor in May.
