Rossmoor Scholarship Foundation (“RSF”)
Your donations provide the funds for RSF scholarships that enable qualified,
deserving students to pursue advanced education.
We rely on the generosity of our Rossmoor Community. Your large and small gifts are the foundation of our Scholarships.
Choose a Donation Method That is Right for You
Donate Online: You can donate online by credit or debit card or by direct transfer from your bank account. Your bank or card issuer will process the donation. Click this link to complete the Donation Form and submit it to RSF.
Donate by Check: You can mail your check to Rossmoor Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 2056, Walnut Creek, CA 94595 or drop it off in RSF's mailbox at Rossmoor Gateway Clubhouse, 1001 Golden Rain Road. Include your email address so we can confirm your donation.
• If the gift honors someone or is in memory of someone, please include the honoree’s name, and the name and email address of the person to be notified.
• If it is intended for a particular scholarship, include the name of the scholarship.
Donate by Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD):
Are you 70 ½ or older? Want to reduce taxes on income distributed from your IRA?
• A QCD reduces IRA taxable income (adjusted gross income) and can lower taxes on Social Security benefits, Medicare premiums, and other income-based charges. The QCD amount helps to satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA. A QCD is not taxable income to you if it is made directly to a 501(c)3 charity such as RSF.
• An additional benefit: Your QCD funds RSF scholarships for promising students!
Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) by check or bank transfer directly to RSF from your taxable IRA account. Click the link below to complete the QCD Form.
Other Ways to Contribute
Rossmoor Scholarship Foundation also welcomes donations in any of these ways to contribute. Contact our VP of Development by clicking on CONTACT VP OF DEVELOPMENT below for detailed information and/or to arrange to donate in this way.
Gifts of Stock:
Donating your appreciated stock directly to RSF allows you to deduct the stock’s appreciated value while avoiding capital gains tax on that appreciation. As a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, RSF can sell the stock at its appreciated value without incurring capital gains tax.
Endowment:
An endowment that you create is a permanent fund established for long-term support of an organization. The principal is invested and generally kept intact. Only the earnings (often 4-5%) are used each year to fund scholarships.
An endowment can be created during your life or through an estate. It provides ongoing, predictable funding for scholarships.
Bequest:
A bequest is a gift made through a will that transfers the gift only after the donor's death. It can be cash, securities, property, or a percentage of the estate. It can be used to create an endowment or to make an unrestricted gift. In creating a Bequest, you become a member of our Legacy Society.
Donor-Advised Fund:
A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving account that lets you make a tax-deductible contribution now, invest those assets for potential growth, and recommend grants to qualified nonprofits over time. It’s a flexible way to plan philanthropy while simplifying record-keeping and maximizing tax efficiency.
