Transforming Lives - Investing in the Future

In 1965, fifteen Rossmoor residents met to establish the Rossmoor Residents Scholarship Foundation of Walnut Creek, later simplified to the Rossmoor Scholarship Foundation (RSF). Just two years later, 50 students applied from Las Lomas and Del Valle High Schools, and Diablo Valley College. The foundation's first scholarships, $300 apiece, were awarded to five of these applicants.

Over the next 58 years, the amount and number of scholarships increased due to both donor generosity and the success of our investment account. Recipients are now awarded $3,500. By 2024, RSF was able to assist 82 students from six local high schools and two community colleges, and 2 students from the Golden Rain Foundation family.

Over the years, RSF has partnered with many Rossmoor clubs, residents, and local businesses. Some underwrite the basic $3,500 scholarship (e.g., the Rossmoor Rotary Club donates $14,000 for four basic scholarships). Others contribute "add on” scholarships of $2,500 to the basic RSF award.
